Rig Vedic society Family: The social life in the early Vedic age was simple; the Aryans lived in a village and lead a sacred nd valuable-based life. The pattern of the family was patriarchal. the eldest male member of the family occupied the highest position in the family and full control over the members of the family . the head man of family is called grihyapati. If he dead, the eldest son is used to occupy his position. The father had complete control of his children. He was the owner ship of his property. Individual ownership of moveable things such as cattle, horse and gold was recognized. The right of adoption was recognized. Beside husband and wife.
